For more than 35 years, Las Negras Studio built an enduring reputation for providing comprehensive services in painting conservation, antique restoration, and special finishes. While in recent years the structure of the business changed, we strive to maintain the highest quality craftsmanship available in the Dallas area.

Carlos Espinosa, owner of Las Negras Studio, learned his craft through classical art training at the Royal Fine Arts Academy of San Fernanado - in Madrid Spain, his native country.

He opened his studio for painting and frame restoration in 1985, after twelve years of apprenticeship at John Douglass Picture Frames. The business saw tremendous growth and led to a large studio space of over 7000 square feet, where we remained until 2020. After Carlos’ official retirement in 2019, the business was passed down to his daughter Julie and long time apprentice Juan.

In 2020 the building our studio occupied for over 20 years in the Dallas Design Center was sold and our businesses were forced to move and ultimately led to two separate work spaces.

The painting conservation studio is now in the North East Dallas area in a small, sunny, open space that has been a welcomed update to a long-lasting business.
